Domaine Bernard Moreau et Fils

Chassagne Montrachet Rouge Vieilles Vignes - 2021 - Alexandre Moreau

Burgundy

MOREAU Alexandre

100% Pinot Noir from vines of 55 years old on average, grown organically (not certified), planted on clay-limestone soils and facing South-East. Manual harvesting, indigenous yeasts, soft maceration without forcing the extraction, end of fermentations and aging in barrels that have seen several wines, for 15 months, and finally a maturation of three months in vats. Bottled at the Estate without filtration, light fining.

Alexandre Moreau is the eldest son of Bernard Moreau, he has been working on the estate since 1995, and is today at the head of the family vineyard, embodying its fifth generation. The Bernard Moreau et fils Domaine is probably the flagship estate of Chassagne-Montrachet, a historic name of the appellation since the family roots at the estate go deep into the beginning of the 19thcentury, with a cellar built in front of the famous La Maltroie Climat. Today, the estate occupies about 12 hectares and many Premiers Crus, which were grown and taken care of until the 2020 harvest by Benoît, Alexandre's brother, with great precision, zero chemicals and biodynamic experiments. Healthy grapes for a vinification that allows the terroir to shine: no more commercial yeasts since 1998, long aging with little new oak, etc. For reds as for whites, wines with incredible harmony, cut for laying down in your cellar. Rare bottles that valued and sought-after, all around the world!
