Noa Pinot Noir - 2012 - Michael Seresin

New Zealand

SERESIN Michael

100% Pinot Noir from vines farmed biodynamically in the Marlborough appellation, and planted on alluvial soils of fine silt and gravel. The Noa vineyard is located right next to the Seresin winery. Yields are strictly controlled – the vines are cultivated in such a way as to produce only one bottle per vine. The grapes are harvested by hand, with strict sorting of the bunches, total destemming, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, daily punching of the cap, two weeks of post-fermentation maceration, gentle pressing, and 15 months of maturation in barrels, with 30% new oak. Neither fined nor filtered, with moderate use of sulphites. Bottled on the 17th of January, 2014.
Michael Seresin, child of the 1942 vintage, is a man leading two careers – in cinematography and wine – and excelling at both! Indeed, his filmography is impressive to say the least: Midnight Express, Homeboy, Planet of the Apes, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban... the list goes on and on. Born in New Zealand and very attached to his country, he became passionate about wine and gastronomy when he moved to Europe in 1966 to become an assistant cameraman. In 1992, he founded Seresin Estate with the aim of producing wines as naturally as possible without compromising on quality. And don’t be mistaken – viticulture is no simple hobby for Michael, who in just a couple decades has managed to earn international renown for his wines and his biodynamically farmed estate. Hats off to the artist!
