CHADWICK Eduardo

100% Pinot Noir, from the Casablanca Valley, from vines farmed using sustainable agriculture, on poor soils of clay, sand and granite. The Escultura vineyard is located only 32 km from the Pacific Ocean and therefore enjoys a cool climate, ideal for cultivating Pinot. The grapes are harvested by hand, with careful sorting in the vineyard and in the cellar. The grapes are destemmed, crushed, followed by 5-days of pre-fermentation cold maceration, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, 20 days of maceration, and 11 months of maturation in French oak barrels, 15% of which are new.
Eduardo Chadwick is today the president of Errazuriz, as historic Chilean estate if ever there was one, founded in 1870 by the visionary Don Maximiano Errazuriz, a winemaking pioneer in Chile as the first to plant French grape varietals in the Aconcagua Valley. With determination and hard work, his descendants had succeeded by the 1970s in earning international renown for their wines, a century after the creation of the estate. Today, Errazuriz is the standard bearer for Chilean wine throughout the world, thanks in large part to Eduardo Chadwick, who has drawn on his training in oenology in Bordeaux to promote new winemaking techniques and modernise the estate’s facilities to truly bring it into the 21st century. Which all makes for a rare brand of estate – a veritable institution that cherishes its roots and its history, but whose outlook is resolutely turned towards the future.
