Champagne Jacquesson

Dizy Terres Rouges - 2013 - Famille Chiquet

CHIQUET Jean-Hervé et Laurent

100% Pinot Noir from vines cultivated organically and planted in 1993 on a low east-facing slope with deep, reddish-brown limestone soils over chalky loam. The grapes were harvested by hand on the 9th of October 2013, with a remarkable quality. This Champagne is obtained by total destemming, then direct pressing, followed by maturation in large barrels and in the bottle in racks. Unfiltered, disgorged in February 2021, with 0,75 gr/liter of dosage.

Jean-Hervé and Laurent Chiquet are the inheritors of a champagne house that was handed down to their father Jean in 1974. Meticulous vignerons, they often remain discrete regarding the magnificent history of their house. Since Napoleon Bonaparte bestowed a gold medal upon the house, Jacquesson & Fils has never disappointed. The vineyard parcels are ideally spread over grand crus (Aÿ, Avize, Dizy and Oiry) and premier crus. However, it was Jean-Hervé and Laurent who were behind the estate's great shift to organics. And their idea as well to offer every year a new single-vintage cuvee blended with reserve wines: these became the now famous 700 cuvées, characterized by lovely vinous flavours. Here, the wines are pure and chiselled like stained glass, the dosage always being very low. Finesse with bubbles. Of all the great champagne houses in recent years, Jacquesson is the only one to produce less and less, but better and better.
