Bourgogne Côte d'Or - 2019 - Jean Baptiste Bouzereau

Burgundy

BOUZEREAU Jean Baptiste

A 100% Pinot Noir from old vines cultivated using sustainable agriculture and planted in 1966 on a 0.33-hectare plot of clay and limestone soils. Close pruning of the vines coupled with severe disbudding is practiced on the parcel to keep strict control over yields. In the winery: vinification is respectful of the grapes, with total de-stemming followed by cold maceration, fermentation with indigenous yeasts, gentle pressing, one year of maturation in barrels that have seen several wines.

Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau has been at the head of his eponymous family estate since 1999, following in the footsteps of his father Michel, and embodying the seventh generation of Bouzereau family vignerons to cultivate vines in Meursault. After having spent around 10 years learning the profession alongside Michel, Jean-Baptiste is now standing on his own two feet and fully embracing the ambitious challenge of taking the estate towards ever greater heights of precision, excellence and perfection. Famous for his world-class Chardonnay, which represents 11 hectares of the estate’s vines, Jean-Baptiste Bouzereau also produces very great Pinots Noir, thanks to nearly two hectares of vines he cultivates throughout the year with a caring approach tailored specifically to each parcel. The result in the bottle? Smooth, elegant and profound wines that age harmoniously. A winemaker to (re)discover ASAP!
