Bonnes Mares Grand Cru - 2017 - Bruno Clair

Burgundy

CLAIR Bruno

100% Pinot Noir, from old vines planted successively in 1946, 1962, 1978 and 1980 on this very special Grand Cru, the Bonnes Mares, straddling two communes, Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis. Bruno Clair's parcel on this climat is situated at an altitude of 280 metres and faces southeast, with clay-limestone soils and a subsoil of limestone and marl. Vinification: 18 days of maceration in wooden vats with 30% whole bunches, 20 months of maturation in barrels, with about 45% new oak.
Bruno Clair, grandson of Louis Clair, founder of the famous Clair-Daü estate, is the embodiment of a family tradition of excellence as the head of an eponymous estate situated on the terroirs of Marsannay. Since its creation in 1979, Bruno’s estate has grown to nearly 25 hectares of vines, including some exceptional parcels, such as the Gevrey Chambertin Premier Cru "Les Cazetiers". Today, this grand Monsieur of Burgundy is aided by his cellar master Philippe Brun, as well as by his children Isabelle and Edouard, who have since joined him at the estate. Rigorous work in both the vineyard and in the winery has enabled Domaine Bruno Clair to rise to the top of the Côte de Nuits, having earned a reputation for year-in-year-out consistency of quality, but also the preservation of a singular style: pure, lively and incisive wines, with beautiful length. A legendary producer, not to be missed.
